GG – We would like to know what you think about your photography, what meanings, messages you put?

For me it’s a way of expressing our planet’s beauty. I want to capture the grace of each moment through colourful pictures soft and bright, with lines and structures. I aim to show this in a respectful way to the landscapes where I shoot, even those close to home, and to animals great and small. I want to get the message out there that we only have one planet to enjoy, explore and take care of.

GG – What or who inspires you the most? Are there certain situations that you feel immediately the need to take the camera and shoot?

When you venture out in nature on your own before sunset, you get to fully enjoy the peacefulness and feel the connectedness. Again and again, I am surprised by the serenity, the softness, the wonder of the seasonal cycles, their intense and captivating colour pallet and the diverse beauty of the various locations.

When I go into my city before sunset, I clearly sense the transition from empty and tranquil to crowded and rushed.  I feel the city coming to life, I sense its awakening.

On moments like these, I need my camera to convey my feelings in a picture.

GG – What is your favourite movie/city?

– One of my favourites is ‘The secret life of Walter Mitty’ and ‘Forrest Gump’

– My hometown Gent

GG – Which artist of the past would you most like to meet?

Ansel Adams, landscape photographer from the early 1900s. I’d love to hear him talk about ‘the making of’ and to accompany him on his awe-inspiring photographic journeys. Back then, in analogue times, with mules carrying his material high up in the mountains.  I’d love to develop his pictures in the black room and discuss his way of seeing and feeling the images…

GG – What do you wish every child were taught?

I think it’s important for children to explore our beautiful nature in a respectful way. I am certain that it will enhance their creativity and imagination. It will encourage them to responsibly care for our planet and admire its stunning beauty.
